SIDEWRITE 2011
Welcome the the 2011 Sidewrite Screenplay Competition. A division of the Sidewalk Film Festival started in 2004, Sidewrite's mission is to discover and reward talented screenwriters in Alabama and around the world. The short screenplay competition aims to foster community amongst emerging writers and reinforce cinematic artistry locally. Sidewrite allows passionate writers to enhance their craft and receive recognition for their work and creativity.
The winners will receive $500 and a copy of Final Draft screenwriting software. Runner-ups will receive a signed copy of screenwriter Max Adams' invaluable guide to screenwriting in Hollywood: The Screenwriter's Survival Guide.

- Final Round judging by professional screenwriters. The top three scripts will be submitted to a “celebrity screenwriting panel”, composed of produced screenwriters, to help determine the final winners (Best Overall Screenplay and Best Alabama Screenplay).
Celebrity Judge Panel:
Jeff Lowell is a veteran film screenwriter whose credits include such films as John Tucker Must Die, Hotel For Dogs, and(as director, too) Over Her Dead Body. His television work has been seen on such shows as as The George Carlin Show, Drew Carey, Just Shoot Me, Sports Night, Cybill and Spin City.
Jeanne Veillette Bowerman is the Co-Founder and moderator of the weekly Twitter screenwriters’ chat, Scriptchat, and a regular columnist for Script Magazine and Write On Online. A graduate of Cornell University, she’s written several spec scripts, including the adaption of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Slavery by Another Name, with its author, Douglas A. Max Adams is an award winning screenwriter and author. She has worked professionally for Columbia Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, and Tri-Star Pictures. Her produced films include Excess Baggage [credited], The Ladykillers [uncredited] and One For the Money [uncredited]. She is the author of ³The Screenwriter's Survival Guide; Or, Guerrila Meeting Tactics and Other Acts
