Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and Volkswagen Group have announced that the two companies will expand their cooperation. Previously, the two companies signed a term sheet for the supply of MEB components of Mahindra’s new INGLO electric vehicle platform. The cooperation means having a volume of one million units and is part of the acquisition of components for Mahindra’s five new electric SUVs.
The INGLO platform, developed by Mahindra for its electric SUVs, uses an electric drivetrain, battery system and battery cells from the MEB platform. The term sheet includes all major business and technical terms that will lead to the location of the battery system. The final agreement will be negotiated by both parties and finalized by the end of 2022.
Both parties are also exploring the possibility of a strategic alliance for India, with both companies agreeing to explore other areas of electric mobility. This will include vehicle projects, localization of battery cell manufacturing, charging and energy solutions for the electric vehicle ecosystem in India.
