UCR leaders visit South Korea to discuss educational partnerships

A delegation of UC Riverside campus leaders visited South Korea last month, meeting with government and education officials to discuss international partnerships.

The trip, Oct. 20-29, included Vice-Rector and Executive Vice-Chancellor Elizabeth Watkins and Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Daryle Williams on their first international trips representing UCR. The group also included Marko Princevac, vice-rector for international affairs; Jun Wang, vice-rector for strategic initiatives and international recruitment; David Dai, Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives and International Recruitment; and Irene Song, associate director of graduate admissions for the School of Business.

During the visit, the group discussed student mobility with officials from the Ministry of Education, met with presidents and deans of several major universities to discuss education and research collaborations, and participated in recruitment fairs. They visited Jeju, Seoul and Gangnam, a sister city of Riverside.

Their itinerary included a visit to Yonsei University in Seoul, where they met a UCR student who was studying there as part of the UC Education Abroad program. South Korea is a popular destination for Education Abroad students.
