YellowBird officially certified as a Disability-Owned Business (DOBE) by Disability:IN™

By joining the Disability:IN™ Supplier Diversity program, YellowBird becomes part of the national community of disability-owned businesses serving the needs of organizations looking to diversify their supply chain. To qualify for the National Disability and Disability Veteran Business Owner Certification, Disability:IN™ requires businesses to show at least 51% ownership, management and control by a person with a disability as defined by the first tier of the Americans with Disabilities Act. CEO and Founder of YellowBird Michel Zallewho was born with a limb disability, met the criteria, qualifying YellowBird to be certified.

“Building an inclusive economy for all Americans is not only morally right, it also drives business growth,” said Michel Zalle, CEO and Founder of YellowBird. “As an individual born with a disability, I feel honored to join the DOBE community and thrilled to serve the needs of businesses across the country who value partnering with a DOBE organization.”

Promoting inclusion is at the heart of YellowBird. Michel Zalle founded the company in 2019 after realizing that the $55 billion The global risk and security industry was losing important knowledge due to the wave of baby boomer retirements. He saw an opportunity to leverage technology to connect professionals with companies needing expertise for short-term projects. In doing so, YellowBird also offers EHS workers the opportunity to apply their expertise to jobs beyond retirement age and creates an additional income opportunity for young professionals.

Today, YellowBird offers companies in the insurance, construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, risk management and other sectors access to more than 2,000 EHS professionals vetted and insured in all 50 states. With its on-demand services, YellowBird is an affordable channel to EHS expertise enabling companies to solve critical issues, save time, reduce costs and operate more safely. Services include OSHA incident investigation and mock audits, industrial hygiene, site safety manager, program and policy development, custom projects, and training.

“Disability:IN™ advances business opportunities and supply chain inclusion for entrepreneurs with disabilities, and we’re proud to help innovative and dedicated people with disabilities grow their businesses,” said Jill Houghton, Disability: President and CEO of IN. “We are thrilled to welcome YellowBird to the Disability:IN family and look forward to all the growth YellowBird will spark now through DOBE certification.”

By doing business with a DOBE-certified organization, employers help bridge the gap between business opportunities and the nationwide disability community. Employers looking to diversify their supply chain can partner with YellowBird for risk and safety compliance projects, support disability inclusion in businesses, and foster a culture for all Americans.
